A huge improvement over stock for a single-headlight bike

The OEM headlight on the '09 Kawasaki Eliminator 125 is a bad joke- night riding is scary! I purchased the low-beam-only Xetronic in Diamond Blue to solve this problem. Installation was straightforward, although finding mounting locations for the ballast and ignitor are going to be tricky on such a small bike. Also, to make sure the headlamp stayed on if it were switched to hi-beam, I looped the high beam power to the low beam input with a hgih-amp diode. This gives the lamp power under both high and low beam, without lighting up the hi-beam indicator when the low beam is on.
Light pattern and lumens (actual light output) is excellent, and the only remaining task is to hook up a fog or driving light, for even better night-time visibility in rural areas. Since current draw on the HID is lower than stock, I can afford to draw a little more power under high beam with additional lighting.
This HID lamp has made my little bike safer to ride- a small price to pay for such insurance, especially when the primary rider is my wife!

I bought this HID setup for my 2002 KTM 380 EXC dirt bike for a 24 hour offroad race for october of 2004. It worked well enough during the race that it almost made me feel like I had an unfair advantage. It had been installed on my bike since then and I have probably put 3,000 miles on it. And thats on trails and motocross tracks!
It has been through several bad crashes (three sets of handlebars, each more bent than the last), many small tipovers, and even survived a falling over incident on the garage floor (something that has shattered my halogen bulb in the past). And since I live in the pacific northwest it has been through mud, creek crossings, hail, snow, and even had the bike completely submerged in water over 3 ft deep without a problem from the headlight (the deep caused some other problems though as you can imagine)
With that said the only hiccups it has had was when my charging system wasn't keeping up due to low engine speeds (HID headlight, and HID Helmet lights, and electric fan kit) in that case this Headlight was the thing that turned off first. but after shutting down the helmet lights I could then run with the main headlight.
Note: If you intend to use this system on a dirt bike make sure you have a DC electrical system, if the bike doesn't have a battery, it probably isn't DC, but converting it over is simple.
Overall I give this product a 12 out of 10 and would recomend it to anyone. If it will survive 2.5 years of abuse from a dirt bike, just think of how far it would go on a road bike.
It sure beats spending $600 on a rally headlight setup thats for sure.
