Disabling On-board Computer Warning Feature
![]() |
What is On-board Warning Display? Some high-end vehicles (e.g. Audi, BMW, Mercedes, etc.) are equipped with on-board warning displays, usually located on dash-board or on center console, to alert the drivers of any failures of the vehicles. These warning systems use LCD dot matrix displays to show the messages. Do I need to disable this warning? It depends. Our HID Xenon Conversion Kits would work perfectly fine with or without disabling this warning. However, most drivers prefer not to be distracted by these warnings while driving. Why does this warning show up? After you upgraded your original halogen lights with our HID Xenon lights, the on-board computer detects that there are aftermarket modifications to the original lights thus displays this warning message. How does Xetronic Ballast disable this warning? The Xetronic ballast with disabling warning feature is equipped with special computer chips that send signal to the on-board warning system of your vehicle. This computer signal tricks your on-board warning system to "think" that the HID Xenon lights are your original halogen lights, therefore the on-board warning system would not detect the aftermarket modification by the HID Xenon lights. How do I install this feature? You DON'T need to install this feature because it is integrated inside the ballast. Therefore, there is NO difference between this special HID kit and the regular one. |
