Mercedes Benz Headlights

While still headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, the MB company has been a global player in luxury vehicle design and manufacture for almost a century. Founded in 1926, it now sells more than 2 million luxury vans, buses, trucks, and cars every year. In 2018 they introduced and new LED headlight system (Digital Light) using 1 million micro reflectors to illuminate just about anything on the road and create various patterns on top of this as well.

Mercedes-Benz C-class Headlights

Mercedes revamps the C-Class sedan for 2012 and adds an attractive new coupe to the mix. Both begin with the C250 Sport featuring a new 201-bhp 1.8-liter direct-injection 4-cylinder turbo. The C350 nets a 302-bhp 3.5-liter V-6. Targeting enthusiasts, the top C63 AMG has a 451-bhp 6.2-liter V-8. Sedans also offer a C300 4Matic with a 228-bhp 3.0-liter V-6. Standard 7-speed automatics include a Speedshift multiclutch version for the C63. Redesigned interiors gain new audio with a 5.8-in. color display, Bluetooth and USB port. Coupes receive standard paddle shifters, sport bucket seats and split-folding rear seats. Attention Assist, Adaptive Brake with Hold function, Lane Keeping Assist and Blind Sport Assist are among C-Class safety features.

Mercedes-Benz CL-class Headlights

Those who live life large and want a coupe to match would do well to consider the Mercedes CL-Class. Loaded with luxury and charisma, the CL550 sports a 4.7-liter bi-turbo direct-injection V-8 with 429 bhp and 4Matic all-wheel drive. The C63 AMG ups the ante with a 536-bhp 5.5-liter V-8, Eco stop-start technology, 7-speed multiclutch automatic transmission, sport suspension and unique styling cues. Moving up to the CL600 nets a 5.5-liter V-12 with 510 bhp. The range-topping CL65 AMG boosts 6.0-liter V-12 output to 621 bhp. A new spotlight function for the Night View Assist Plus safety feature coordinates infrared headlights and a night-vision camera to identify and warn roadside pedestrians while alerting the driver on a display screen.

Mercedes-Benz CLK-class Headlights

There’s a little less excitement with the CLK line this year, as the CLK63 AMG Black Series is no longer available. But the CLKs still have much to offer. First, there’s the B-pillarless styling of the coupe as well as the option of a convertible model, and your choice of either a V-6 or a V-8. The smooth 3.5-liter V-6 in the CLK350 makes an admittedly timid 268 bhp, but it’s partnered with a high-tech 7-speed automatic transmission. The CLK550 has 382 bhp emanating from its 5.5-liter 32-valve V-8, also mated to a 7-speed automatic. All models receive heated seats and a 6-disc CD changer as standard equipment for ’09, while a Grand Edition (special colors and styling) will be available for the CLK350. Look for an all-new CLK in the spring of 2009 (as a 2010 model) based on the C-Class platform.

Mercedes-Benz CLS-class Headlights

Mercedes sent shockwaves across the pond when it introduced the CLS 4-door “coupe” seven years ago. The second-generation makes its debut for 2012, retaining a pinched-roof profile, yet gaining more muscular flanks. A new 4.6-liter twin-turbo V-8 infuses the CLS550 with 402 bhp. Electrically assisted power steering, Airmatic suspension and a revised 7-speed automatic are standard. 4Matic is available for the first time. The performance flagship CLS63 AMG returns, gaining a new 5.5-liter V-8 good for 518 bhp and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. It receives a 7-speed MCT transmission, Eco start-stop system, sweetened suspension, wider alloys and larger brakes. Redesigned 4-place cabins, dressed with fine leather and wood, offer more technology and user-friendly controls.

Mercedes-Benz E-class Headlights

From mild to wild, Mercedes offers E-Class models to suit everyone’s fancy. The E350 sedan, coupe, convertible and wagon gain a new 3.5-liter 302-bhp direct-injection V-6 and 7-speed automatic. An unchanged BlueTEC diesel remains a sedan option. E550 models receive a new 402-bhp 4.6-liter twin-turbo V-8. A wagon joins the sedan for the hot E63 AMG treatment including a new 518-bhp 5.5-liter V-8 and 7-speed MCT transmission. The former also features a panorama roof and rearview camera. E-Class safety, infotainment and luxury equipment varies by model. Convertibles are fitted with a 2-piece Aircap wind deflector to help reduce turbulence with the top down. Wagons have standard 7-passenger seating, a power tailgate and rear air suspension.

Mercedes-Benz G-class Headlights

The Gelandewagen (cross-country vehicle) was developed more than 30 years ago for military use. Today’s sophisticated G550 continues to be built in Austria by Magna Steyr. Suitable for transporting the Pope, the civilian version is a no-compromise off-roader capable of climbing grades up to 36 degrees or traversing lateral inclines of 24 degrees. A 382-bhp 5.5-liter V-8 transfers torque to independently locking front, center and rear differentials. While the previous supercharged AMG V-8 is discontinued, a new Edition Select appearance package makes its debut. It features AMG fender flares, unique alloys, carbon-style moldings and Piano Black wood cabin trim. As expected in this price class, the G550 comes fully equipped with luxury and convenience features.

Mercedes-Benz GL-class Headlights

In the Mercedes quartet of luxury SUVs, the GL-Class takes the checkered flag in terms of seating capacity, cargo volume and towing. With three standard rows of seats, there’s room for seven. Fold the second and third rows flat to reveal 83.3 cu. ft. of space for oversize gear. The GL has carryover powertrains ranging from a 210-bhp 3.0-liter BlueTEC diesel V-6, to 335-bhp 4.6- and 382-bhp 5.5-liter V-8s. All mate with a 7-speed automatic transmission, 4Matic awd and feature 7500 lb. towing capacity. Changes for 2012 include LED daytime running lights and updated interior trim. The GL’s standard Command system includes a 7-in. screen, 6-disc DVD/CD player and Bluetooth. Navigation and 610-watt, 12-speaker Harman-Kardon audio are optional.

Mercedes-Benz GLK-class Headlights

Mercedes-Benz fired a salvo into the compact luxury crossover segment when it introduced the GLK350 three years ago. With competitive pricing, typically robust Mercedes build-quality and GL-Class-inspired styling, it found plenty of takers. The unchanged lineup for 2012 offers a 268-bhp V-6 paired with a 7-speed automatic and rear- or 4Matic awd. Equipped with the latter, the GLK is in its element on wet or snowy roads, but is not happy climbing boulders. The cabin offers comfortable seating for five along with luxury cues like Burl Walnut trim, dual-zone climate control and a central controller for the dash-mounted infotainment display. Ample options include an AMG styling package, Comand with navigation, full-leather seating and a panorama roof.

Mercedes-Benz M-class Headlights

An all-new third-generation Mercedes M-Class arrives for 2012. Slightly larger than its predecessor, the ML350 receives sleeker styling inside and out, new technologies plus advanced safety features. Powertrain choices include a new 302-bhp 3.5-liter direct-injection V-6 plus a 240-bhp 3.0-liter BlueTEC diesel, both fitted with 7-speed automatic transmissions, paddle shifters and 4Matic awd. Agility Control Suspension is standard while an optional Active Curve System helps reduce body lean in corners. Roomier cabins gain a hooded twin-gauge instrument cluster, 7-in. display screen and optional heated and cooled cupholders. An 830-watt Harman-Kardon audio system, 80-gig hard-drive navigation and a rear-seat iPad docking station are available.

Mercedes-Benz R-class Headlights

The R-Class artfully avoids the minivan stigma by being billed as a “Sport Tourer.” Thus, it has four sedan-style doors, a shapely silhouette (freshened last year) and standard 4Matic awd. Like other Mercedes models, the R350 gains a new 302-bhp 3.5-liter direct-injection V-6. A fuel-stingy 210-bhp 3.0-liter BlueTEC turbodiesel boosts potential highway cruising range to more than 500 miles. The cavernous cabin seats up to seven while topping the mighty GL-Class with 85.0 cu. ft. of cargo space. New standard features include the Comand system with navigation, Gracenote media, HD Radio and a 4-gig hard drive with Music Register. Keyless Go, a panorama sunroof, 20-in. alloys and a rear-seat entertainment system are on the extensive option list.

Mercedes-Benz S-class Headlights

You’ve mastered the art of decision-making and reached the pinnacle of your career. So why is it so difficult to select an S-Class? The new S350 BlueTEC 4Matic turbodiesel with 240 bhp has top fuel economy ratings of 20 mpg city/31 highway. If you thrive on innovation, the S400 Hybrid generates a combined 295 hp from its gas-electric drivetrain that includes lithium-ion batteries. Power players are drawn to the S550 and its new 429-bhp twin-turbo 4.7-liter direct-injection V-8. The S600 has a 5.5-liter turbo V-12 good for 510 bhp. Then, there’s the S63 AMG with a 536-bhp V-8 while the S65 AMG squeezes 621 bhp from its V-12. The S-Class also offers top-flight luxury, safety and infotainment features, making your decision even more challenging.

Mercedes-Benz SL-class Headlights

If you’ve got a spare $100K or so burning a hole in your pocket, let us direct you to the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class. The large 2-seat roadster is offered in three models: SL550 (382-bhp 5.5-liter V-8), SL63 AMG (518-bhp 6.3-liter V-8) or SL65 AMG (604-bhp 6.0-liter twin-turbo V-12). The price builds in similar increments, ranging from the $102K SL550 to the $139K SL63 all the way to the $198K SL65 AMG. Zero-to-60 acceleration times drop as well, from 5.4 seconds to 4.2 sec. New Direct Steering in the SL550 quickens steering simply by changing the gearing in the steering rack. The limited-availability SL550 Night Edition includes a special interior treatment plus two-tone 19-in. AMG wheels, special paint, silver brake calipers and darkened head- and taillights.

Mercedes-Benz SLK-class Headlights

Dressed to thrill, the next-generation SLK roadster bursts onto the scene for 2012. More aggressive styling embodies an expanded model range. The new SLK250 receives a 201-bhp 4-cylinder turbo with direct injection paired with 6-speed manual or 7-speed automatic transmissions. Next up is the SLK350 with a naturally aspirated 302-bhp 3.5-liter V-6. The new range-topping SLK55 AMG nets a 415-bhp 5.5-liter V-8 with variable cylinder management, Speedshift 7G-Tronic 3-mode transmission, ECO stop/start, torque vectoring brakes and sport suspension. The SLK’s retractable hardtop offers Magic Sky Control with an automatically tinting glass roof panel. Redesigned cabins gain sun-reflecting leather, Comand controller, eight airbags and Attention Assist.

Mercedes-Benz SLR-class Headlights

It’s the SLR McLaren’s last hurrah, with about 50 final-year models to be sold in the U.S.; some 1400 have been sold worldwide (around a third of those in the U.S.), which means Mercedes isn’t going to meet the original goal of selling 3500 SLRs. The SLR is built by Mercedes’ Formula 1 partner—McLaren—in Woking, England. The car’s monocoque chassis is made of carbon fiber, a big part of the reason an SLR costs almost $500,000. Although the original McLaren SLR was a fixed-roof coupe, the car now comes only with a semi-automatic convertible top. The SLR is powered by an AMG-built 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 with 617 bhp and 575 lb.-ft. of torque. Although not revered in the vein of a Ferrari Enzo, or even McLaren’s own F1, the SLR will be remembered as an amazing machine.

Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Headlights

History repeats itself as a roadster joins the flagship SLS AMG gullwing coupe. As modern interpretations of the legendary 300SL, both are constructed by AMG using lightweight aluminum space frames. A handbuilt 563-bhp 6.2-liter V-8 with dry-sump lubrication mated to a carbon-fiber driveshaft and 7-speed DCT transaxle launches the limited-production sports car to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds. The roadster’s power softtop opens or closes in 11.0-sec. flat up to 30 mph. Airscarf heating and a removable wind deflector are included, yet with a top speed of 197 mph, it may be wise to leave the latter at home. New features include Blind Spot Assist, 3-mode adaptive suspension and AMG Performance Media with driving telemetry and G-force measurement.

Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Headlights

When the Sprinter was sold as a Dodge, some owners installed a three-pointed star on the grille to add class. Now it comes standard as Mercedes handles distribution of these workhorse vehicles. Cargo vans continue to be assembled in South Carolina from knockdown kits to avoid the 25-percent “chicken tax.” Passenger, crew, minibus and cab chassis variants are imported fully built from Germany. All feature a 50-state certified BlueTEC 3.0-liter turbodiesel engine, 5-speed automatic transmission, stability control and front airbags. Vans offer three lengths, two roof heights and three GVWRs. Despite its imposing size, the Sprinter is pleasant to drive thanks to a well-tuned chassis, power rack-and-pinion steering and 4-wheel disc brakes.
